Wines of Spain Masterclass
Adolfo Hornos of Vallegarcia de Pago will host a Master Class on Spanish wine with 12 “Vino de Pago” (single-state wines) wines produced by some of the 25 members of Grandes Pagos de España, a group of small producers of single-state wines founded in 2003 to defend the personality which defines the wines from the best growths and to promote the culture of individuality born in Spain.

Spottswoode Cabernet Vertical
Beth Novak Milliken, owner/president of Spottswoode Estate in Napa Valley, will present a rare six vintage vertical of her family’s estate Cabernet Sauvignon. Taste the evolution of one of Napa’s “First Growths” with Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon from 2009, 2006, 2004, 2002, 1999 and 1996.

Around the World of Syrah (with a blindfold!)
Syrah from California (Jaffurs), the Northern Rhone Valley (Charles Neal), Washington State (K Vintners) and Australia (Penfolds); what’s the difference and can we tell them apart? Two flights of 4 wines featuring a Syrah from each region will be tasted. The first flight will be tasted open with regional characteristics noted. The second flight of Syrahs will be tasted blind with guests asked to pick the region of each.

Calera Mt. Harlan Pinot Noir Vertical
One of the pioneering legends of North American Pinot Noir, Josh Jensen of Calera Wine Co. will present six wines in a mini vertical tasting of two of his single-vineyard Pinot Noirs (Mills 2009, 2004, 1999 and Jensen 2009, 2004, 1999), showcasing the unique expression of terroir from his limestone-rich Mt. Harlan vineyards and exhibiting how the wines age.

Beaux Freres Pinot Noir Vertical
Michael Etzel returns to the Taos Winter Wine Festival and this time he brings a vertical of his Beaux Freres Pinot Noir from his Ribbon Ridge estate vineyard in Willamette Valley. Beaux Freres, Beaux Freres vineyard Pinot Noirs featured will be 2000, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008 and stunning current vintage of 2010. Taste the evolution of one of Oregon’s Grand Crus!

Under the Tuscan Sun
Tuscany is the primary wine region of Italy where the Sangiovese grape has been king for thousands of years! Yet wines made from the Sangiovese grape grown in different regions in Tuscany are fascinatingly different. Brian Larky of Dalla Terra will pour Eight Tuscan wines towards exploring and understanding the different sub-regions of Chianti Classico, Chianti Rufina, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Brunello di Montalcino and the up and coming Bolgheri coast.
